29. Tool’s rack.

Tool’s rack. Various, original drilling tools, fixtures or accessories are displayed on the rack; those used for drilling, borehole cleaning, running in hole pumps and for
many other jobs. They are a document of the engineering development and achievements of Polish constructors.

The tools have specific names:

» „korony” (crowns), used for catching and fishing up various items dropped and left in boreholes, e.g. broken drill bits, pipes and production rods,

» „raki” (creepers, crabs), used to fish up pieces of casing torn or broken during drilling operations,

» „łyżki” (spoons), bailers used to remove crude oil and cleaning the borehole bottom,

» „prosiaki” (piglets), weights used to load the rope system during the run of rods used to pump crude oil,

» „żabki” (frogs), wrenches used to dismantle production pipes,

» „elewatory” (elevators/lifts), devices to suspend pipes/casing when running them into borehole,

» „nożyce” (jars), used for drilling and cleaning up boreholes,

» „gruszki” (pears), used to straighten the pipes / tubes collapsed (mashed) in boreholes during drilling,

» „pasterki” (goose girls), rope sockets used to connect the drill line with the drilling set,

» „faje” (big smoke pipes), „półksiężyce” (crescents) and „pełzaki” (creeping creatures, amoebas), devices used for threaded joining of the segments of the drill string/pipe,

» „huczki” (buzzers), for manipulation of drilling pipes,

» „miotły” (brooms), for cleaning pipes in boreholes.

There are original drill bits for percussion drilling of all types, short and long, welded with a weight, (Łodziński’s ones, straight and eccentric ones and brace bits), reamers used for increasing well diameters, hooks for fishing up tools with a broken rope, pulleys and pulley blocks, used during drilling, tubingsupporting plates while drilling.
