52. Prototype drilling ram.

Prototype drilling ram constructed in the Petroleum Institute in 1956 by an engineer Józef Ostaszewski. The operating principle consisted in an impact of water injected from the ground surface onto the drill bit, by means of a spring gate located in the lower part of the hydraulic line. As a result, rhythmical impacts of the bit on the well bottom are generated. The ram was used to drill shallow surf boreholes for geologic research. The mud pump of the “Glinik” type. One of mud pump types used in drilling and production, designed and manufactured by Fabryka “Glinik” Gorlice (a mining machinery manufacturer).
